World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every year on 26 April. The day was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to inform and raise public awareness about the role that intellectual property rights (IPR) play in promoting innovation and creativity.

The theme of this year's celebration of World Intellectual Property Day is:

"Women and Intellectual Property, accelerating innovation and creativity".

The aim is to showcase women who are forging new horizons with their innovative ideas. Women are shaping the world through their imagination, ingenuity and hard work but often face significant challenges in accessing the knowledge, skills, resources and support they need to thrive.
