On November 14th 2022 a Schedule Agreement has been signed between the HCO and the “INFORMATION SOCIETY S.A. (IS S.A.)” with the Ministry Of Culture and Sport as the Funding Body, with the aim of strengthening the structure and in particular the technological infrastructure of the Committee for the Notification of Copyright and Related Rights Infringement on the Internet, a Committee which operates within the framework of the HCO, so that it can carry out the task of combatting piracy more quickly and effectively, among others by simplifying the complaints, control and reporting procedures.

The HCO organized a scientific event on the topic "Digital Services Act (DSA) and Copyright - A new balance in Digital Services" on Tuesday, 24 January 2023, at the Athens Bar Association’s Event Hall (16:00 - 19:30).

The HCO in cooperation with the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens are organizing a conference with the title “Recent legislative changes in copyright law: laws 4996/2022 and 4961/2022".

The conference will take place on 14 and 15 February 2023 at the I. Drakopoulos Amphitheatre of the University of Athens, 30 Panepistimiou Street, Athens, at 16:00 - 20:30.

On Monday, 23rd January 2023, an HCO representative paid a second online visit to the 3rd grade of Zosimaia High School of Ioannina.

During the visit, the HCO lawyer, Mrs. M. Sinanidou, talked to the pupils of the 3rd grade of the High School about copyright law, the importance of respecting it, with particular emphasis on the digital environment. In addition, Ms. Sinanidou talked about the HCO and the services it provides to the public.

The WIPO Traditional Knowledge Division is seeking an intern to collaborate in Geneva from 1 April 2023, for an initial period of six months, possibly renewable for another six months. Applicants should have a background in intellectual property (IP) law, a university degree and an interest in the relationship between intellectual property and traditional knowledge, genetic resources and/or traditional cultural expressions and intergovernmental processes.

The European Commission has launched the actions on live content piracy initiative, to provide a toolbox to combat the illegal broadcasting of live events, in particular sports events. Building on relevant EU legislation, the Commission will encourage Member States and private actors to use the tools available in EU law to tackle illegal live streaming more effectively.
